Life sometimes unfolds in unexpected ways, and today was a perfect example. Between simple meals, a quick trip to Aberdeen, and a power outage that disrupted plans, the day had its share of small surprises. Tracking what I ate and the little moments in between gives a clear picture of how routine and unpredictability mix in daily life.

Breakfast and Lunch: Simple Choices with a Touch of Convenience

The day started with a straightforward breakfast: two hard boiled eggs and an apple. This combination offers a good balance of protein and fiber, which helps maintain energy levels through the morning. Hard boiled eggs are an excellent go-to for anyone looking for a quick, nutritious start without fuss.

Lunch was a bit more casual: a four-piece chicken nugget Happy Meal, without a beverage. It’s not the most elaborate meal, but sometimes convenience wins, especially on busy days. The nuggets provided a familiar comfort food, and skipping the drink helped keep the calorie intake moderate.

Afternoon Coffee Break and a Trip to Aberdeen

Midday brought a much-needed pick-me-up in the form of a Starbucks chestnut praline iced latte. This seasonal favorite adds a bit of warmth and sweetness to the day, even when served cold. Coffee breaks like this can be a small but meaningful treat, especially when the day feels a bit hectic.

Later, I had to make a quick run to Aberdeen to pick up chicken and supplies for an upcoming event. This trip was a reminder of how planning can ease the stress of event preparation. While there, I stopped by Michaels Meats and grabbed their budget pack. It’s an excellent option for those looking to get quality meat without overspending. Supporting local businesses like this also feels good and helps keep the community strong.

Evening: A Light Dinner and Unexpected Power Outage

Dinner was a small salad topped with deli turkey and two hard-boiled eggs. This meal was light but filling, perfect after a day with mixed eating habits. Salads like this are easy to prepare and can be customized with whatever protein or veggies are on hand.

The day took an unexpected turn when the last game scheduled for the evening was canceled due to a power outage. The wind had been strong overnight, causing the outage that lasted until 10:40 a.m. at my mom’s house. Power outages can disrupt plans and routines, but they also offer a chance to slow down and appreciate the simpler things, like listening to an audiobook.

Speaking of audiobooks, I have to shout out to Audible. They make it easy to enjoy books on the go or during downtime. Whether it’s a long drive or waiting out a power outage, audiobooks keep the mind engaged and entertained.

Reflections on the Day

Today was uneventful in many ways, but it still offered moments worth noting. Simple meals, a quick shopping trip, and a power outage all contributed to a day that felt both ordinary and a little unpredictable. Keeping a food journal helps track not just what I eat but also how daily events influence my choices and mood.

If you’re thinking about starting a food journal, consider including notes about your day beyond meals. It can reveal patterns and connections between your lifestyle and eating habits. Plus, it makes for an interesting story when you look back.
