Seattle is known for its rainy days, but that did not stop a memorable Tuesday trip downtown with Aunt Sheila. Despite the gloomy weather, the day was filled with moments that made the early start and wet conditions worthwhile. This post shares the highlights of that day, from a timely appointment to a fun family celebration, and a glimpse into new connections that bring excitement.

Early Morning Start and Rainy Drive

The day began at 7 a.m., with the goal of reaching downtown Seattle by 10:30 a.m. for an appointment. The rain was relentless, making the drive challenging, but careful planning and a steady pace ensured arrival on time. Driving through the wet streets of Seattle, the city’s familiar skyline appeared softened by the rain, creating a unique atmosphere.

The appointment itself was brief, allowing time to enjoy the rest of the day. Even with the rain, the trip felt productive and rewarding, especially with Aunt Sheila’s company.

Sightseeing from the Car on the Waterfront

After the appointment, the plan shifted to sightseeing along Seattle’s waterfront. Since the rain was still heavy, the sightseeing was done from the comfort of the car. This offered a cozy way to take in the views without getting soaked. The waterfront’s iconic piers, ferries, and the occasional glimpse of the Space Needle stood out against the gray sky.

Driving slowly along the waterfront, the experience was peaceful and reflective. It was a reminder that sometimes, even a rainy day can reveal the city’s charm in unexpected ways.

Food Highlights of the Day

Food played a simple but satisfying role in the day’s story. For lunch, a half portion of an everything Caesar chicken wrap provided a light yet flavorful meal. The wrap combined crisp lettuce, grilled chicken, and creamy Caesar dressing, making it a perfect choice for a quick bite.

Dinner was refreshing and easy: watermelon slices and the top of a chicken bacon pizza. The watermelon offered a sweet contrast to the savory pizza, rounding out the day’s meals with balance and variety.

Celebrating Emma’s Birthday with Family

The evening brought a joyful change of pace with a family gathering for niece Emma’s birthday party. The celebration featured a bouncy house that kept the kids entertained and active. Pizza and cake were served, classic party staples that everyone enjoyed.

A pinata added extra fun, with children eagerly taking turns to break it open. The laughter and excitement filled the room, creating warm memories despite the earlier rainy day.

New Connections and Looking Ahead

Later that night, there was a special moment of connection with a new beau. Messaging and phone calls since leaving California kept the bond alive. The feeling of being on the same wavelength, sharing similar thoughts and experiences, was both surprising and comforting.

Though living in California is a wish for the future, monthly visits seem likely. This new relationship adds a hopeful and exciting dimension to life, blending past and present in a meaningful way.
